DC Metro Area - The NCI is seeking a leader to serve as its Deputy Director for Science, Center for Global Health (CGH) who will participate with the Director, CGH in the area of science research and therefore, lead and/or coordinate international research activity advances in the molecular sciences, advanced technologies, molecular epidemiology, cancer prevention initiatives, and major international behavioral studies to contribute to the understanding of cancer and its control in both the developing countries of the world, as well as the developed countries of the world.
The successful candidate will have a MD and expert knowledge of: (1) contemporary biomedical research, including laboratory sciences, epidemiology, and clinical sciences; (2) aspects of cancer control, including cancer prevention, screening, and diagnosis, and translational and clinical research; (3) behavioral sciences; (4) current work in global health, including the means of overcoming obstacles to cancer control and research in poor countries; and (5) the ability to supervise professional and administrative staff. Specific and unique expertise is required for this position to lead and manage an international research program regarding the global burden of cancer. The combination of expert knowledge will include laboratory sciences and epidemiology; cancer etiology; cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment; and behavioral research contributing to cancer control in developing and developed countries.
