Dr. Martin is a physician who, since September 2012, has served as the founding Executive Director of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH). Between 1993-2011, Dr. Martin served as a Member of Parliament in Canada's House of Commons. He held portfolios in foreign affairs, health, the environment, defense and international development. He has been on many diplomatic missions in areas in crisis around the world but particularly across Africa and worked as a physician on the Mozambique border during their civil war. He has spent many years volunteering on conservation efforts in South Africa and is a member of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada.

Sarah Kellogg is a global health and development professional with over 15 years of experience leading complex public health programs across Africa and Asia. Throughout her career, she has worked on initiatives focused on health systems strengthening, infectious disease response, and HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. She has worked on large, multi-country programs funded by major donors including USAID, private foundations, and UN agencies. Prior to joining CUGH, she worked at organizations such as JSI, IMA World Health, and ICAP at Columbia University. Sarah holds an MPH from Tulane University.

Program & Events Manager

Norma A. Verona has worked extensively for more than a decade in events, membership and fundraising for globally-oriented, membership-based groups in Washington, DC, including the Institute for International Finance (IIF) and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC).  She managed and staged major events both here in the United States and abroad. Norma is a native Spanish-speaker who has traveled extensively and is passionate about connecting people through events and programs.

Elizabeth Hourani is a global health professional with expertise in program management, partnerships, and business development. Prior to joining CUGH, Elizabeth worked at Zenysis Technologies and JSI, leading multi-country initiatives and strategic operations with a focus on maternal and child health and health systems strengthening in Sub-Saharan Africa. A former Peace Corps Volunteer in Togo, Elizabeth holds a MAS in Global Health Planning & Management from Johns Hopkins University and a BS in Public Health from The George Washington University. She is an alumni member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and Delta Omega public health honorary society.

Administrative Assistant

Ian Evasco is an administrative specialist with a background in program management, training, and process optimization. Solutions-focused and detail-oriented, he brings experience supporting mission-driven organizations through efficient systems, clear communication, and collaborative operations. Ian has worked across nonprofit, academic, and legal sectors, with a consistent focus on improving workflows, managing complex data systems, and enabling teams to meet strategic goals.

Intern

Hannah Barganier is a Master of Public Health student at George Washington University concentrating in Global Health Policy and Systems. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Health and International Studies from the College of Charleston, where she was recognized as a Young Investigator for her academic and research contributions. Her professional background includes a Global Health Security internship at the CDC Foundation and specialized research focusing on vaccine attitudes and reproductive health access.
