Tracing CUGH's journey from its founding to becoming a global leader in academic global health collaboration.

The Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) was established in 2008 with generous founding support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation. Since then, CUGH has grown into a vibrant network of over 100 academic institutions dedicated to improving global health through education, research, service, and advocacy. Our journey reflects the growing recognition of the critical role that universities play in addressing the world's most pressing health challenges.

2008

CUGH Founded

The Consortium of Universities for Global Health is established with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and The Rockefeller Foundation.

2010

First Annual Conference

CUGH hosts its inaugural annual conference, bringing together global health professionals from academic institutions worldwide.

2012

Expansion of Membership

CUGH grows to include over 50 member institutions from multiple continents, strengthening its global network.

2015

Launch of Global Health Education Initiatives

New programs established to enhance global health curriculum and training across member institutions.

2018

10th Anniversary

CUGH celebrates a decade of advancing global health through collaboration, education, and advocacy.

COVID-19 Response
